We're down to 6! Six weeks to get our house in order before this baby is supposed to make his big arrival. That means six weeks to drywall, carpet, trim and paint our basement, six weeks to paint the nursery and get everything that belongs in the basement back down to the basement so we can actually use the nursery, six weeks to convince myself that I won't be one of the teeny percentage of women who die in childbirth, and six weeks left to sleep 8 hours straight. EEK!
It really is getting exciting around our house. People have showered us with such lovely gifts and we are fitting them into every nook and cranny not currently occupied in our house. What a blessing! This child will have all he needs because of everyone's generosity. Josh and I still look around at all our wedding gifts and think, "we'd have nothing without other people being so kind." Now is yet another time to be grateful that the gifts of many will provide for our little boy.
I am still doing fabulously, enjoying these past few days of big old feet jamming into my ribs. One night he kicked continuously for an hour. I often wonder if he's trying to tell me something, like, "you're squishing my entire face here, could you stop slouching for once?" or "please don't eat spicy Chinese food again, it makes my amniotic fluid a tad too acidic and disrupts my watery equilibrium." I suppose I'll never know.
Many have asked if I am "ready." As ready as I can be waiting for something large to come barreling through something small. I'm really quite freaked out by the whole process. Yet, there's nowhere but out and I am slowly facing that reality.
What really gets me excited is who this little boy will be. Crazy, emotional, slapstick silly and sensitive like me? Smart, stable, quiet, witty thinky-thinker like Josh? I think a lovely mix would be great, but definitely with Josh's nose. Definosely. We'll all just have to wait and see!
